Here we are rewatching our rough cut, which is now about 5 minutes and 30 seconds. But even after she shorten it, it was still very confusing, things felt out of order, and I don't think any of us were really content with what we had. Like yes, there are some very good shots in there, but it doesn't really into the film. We even showed one of our classmates our rough cut without any context and she basically told us that she sees what we are trying to do, but she doesn't fully understand it.
We were thinking of rearranging the order completely, but even then, with the footage we got, things will still not make sense. This brought us into the idea of reshooting. Yes, it sucks having to reshoot considering our deadline is approaching very fast, but we want to make our film the best it can be. In AS level of Media studies, we are supposed to create the first 2 minutes of a film. And including dialogue is an option, considering they are focusing on visual technique. But in A level in order to get a higher score, we feel as just focusing on the letter being our main narrative isn't a smart choice. We feel like including more elements of audio and technique is something they will be looking at more this time, since we are meant to advance from our last portfolio.
So, our best bet is reshooting and just get overall better footage. It's one of the only ways for us to show our true and best potential. It was something we were trying to avoid especially this late in the process, but things happen. But we are planning on reshooting at a completely different location that we have more control over. And frankly, I think the new plan we came up will be easier not just for me but also for the rest of our group including actors.
